Far-right activist Laura Loomer on Friday criticized Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts after he defended Tucker Carlson’s interview with white nationalist Nick Fuentes, calling Roberts a “hypocrite” and “liability for the GOP.”
In several posts on X, Loomer accused Roberts of backtracking after an interview with radio host Dana Loesch, where he hesitated when asked whether Carlson’s description of “Christian Zionists” as “venomous” was offensive. “When Dana said, ‘Tucker said that,’ he froze like a deer in headlights,” Loomer wrote, calling Roberts a hypocrite.
Loomer further claimed Roberts and Heritage are “fracturing the evangelical GOP base,” writing that “Tucker is the demon who he says scratched him in his sleep.” She later predicted the controversy would drive donors away from the think tank, saying, “Heritage is so done. Donors are done.”
Her remarks came as Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell, along with Democrat Chuck Schumer, condemned Fuentes’s antisemitism and criticized Carlson’s decision to host him. Roberts later clarified on X that Heritage “abhors” Fuentes’s views and that conservatives must oppose antisemitic ideology “unified and unequivocally.”
