With less than 48 hours until her first debate with Donald Trump, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris has launched an issues page outlining her policy positions. The platform is divided into four key areas: economic opportunity, safeguarding freedoms, ensuring safety and justice, and national security.

Harris proposes expanding the Child Tax Credit, raising the minimum wage, and tackling corporate monopolies in groceries, pharmaceuticals, and housing. She contrasts this with Trump’s economic policies, accusing him of prioritizing tax cuts for the wealthy and increasing national debt. She also warns that Trump’s proposed tariffs would raise consumer prices.

On social issues, Harris pledges to block national abortion bans and support federal protections for reproductive rights and LGBTQ+ individuals. She criticizes Trump for his role in overturning Roe v. Wade and promises to reverse his policies discriminating against LGBTQ+ students.

Harris advocates for banning assault weapons and implementing universal background checks, recalling the 1994 assault weapons ban. She also promises to strengthen border security, impose Supreme Court term limits, and uphold NATO alliances. In contrast, she highlights Trump’s criminal conviction, claiming he would abuse presidential powers and revive harsh immigration policies.

Harris’s platform addresses criticism that her campaign lacks substance, presenting a clear contrast to Trump’s “Project 2025 Agenda,” a Republican policy proposal that Trump has distanced himself from despite similarities to his Agenda 47.

The two candidates will face off in their first debate in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
