Jill Biden affirmed her unwavering support for President Joe Biden’s re-election bid despite calls from some Democrats for him to withdraw after a challenging debate performance against Donald Trump. Speaking to military audiences in Wilmington, North Carolina, and Tampa, Florida, she emphasized her husband’s commitment to serving the military and veterans.
“For all the talk out there about this race, Joe has made it clear that he’s all in,” Jill Biden stated, underscoring her own dedication, “just as he has always supported my career, I am all in too.” She highlighted Biden’s contrast with Trump, asserting, “As commander in chief, President Biden wakes up every morning ready to work for you. Donald Trump wakes up every morning thinking of one person and one person only: himself.”
Danny Fuqua, president of the Democratic Veterans Caucus of Florida, echoed her sentiment, stating, “The Bidens are a military family. They are one of us. They not only see the uniform, they see the person in it.”
Jill Biden also announced the formation of Veterans and Military Families for Biden-Harris in Tampa, stressing, “We can’t take anything for granted. We have to meet this moment because our freedoms are at risk.”
In her speeches, she drew stark contrasts between her husband’s and Trump’s attitudes towards service members, highlighting the personal sacrifices of her late son Beau and her father, both military veterans. She criticized Trump for reportedly referring to fallen service members as “suckers” and “losers,” a claim Trump denies.
Jill Biden concluded by asserting the need for a commander in chief who serves with “integrity and wisdom and character,” vowing that her husband, Joe Biden, fits that role.
