Charles Hand III, known as Chuck Hand, a defendant in the Capitol riot, has progressed to a runoff in the GOP primary for Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District, according to NBC News. Hand, who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor related to the January 6, 2021, events, will compete against Wayne Johnson on June 18. Hand’s case has been notable for his acknowledgment of the chaos during the riot and his subsequent reflection on the actions that led to his arrest and 20-day sentence. His candidacy is part of a broader pattern of individuals connected to the January 6 events seeking public office.
