The Trump administration has presented a new nuclear deal proposal to Iran through Omani mediation, but Iranian officials are expected to reject it, calling it one-sided. Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi delivered the plan in Tehran after five rounds of indirect talks between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff.
Tehran objects to U.S. demands for a complete halt to uranium enrichment and removal of enriched uranium stockpiles. A senior Iranian diplomat said the proposal lacks clarity on lifting sanctions, calling it a “non-starter.” Araqchi stated a formal response will come soon.
The White House urged Iran to accept the plan, asserting that it aligns with Trump’s pledge to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. However, Iran seeks full sanction relief and guarantees against future U.S. withdrawal from any agreement.
Tensions remain high, with Israel threatening military action and Iran warning against any attacks. Despite ongoing negotiations, mutual distrust continues to obstruct progress.
