It has been reported that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas developed close connections with wealthy conservatives by being a member of the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans. Through this association, he was able to enjoy access to various perks such as gifts, trips, and VIP events.
However, there were some gifts and trips that he did not disclose and after an investigation in 2004, he refrained from disclosing them altogether.
There have also been criticisms against Thomas for allegedly receiving luxury trips from Harlan Crow, a GOP megadonor, without disclosing them, as well as for failing to report a real estate deal with Crow in 2014.
