Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) displayed a censored screenshot of herself in a “naked silhouette” Tuesday during a House Oversight subcommittee hearing on surveillance in private spaces, alleging she was secretly recorded without consent at a rental property once co-owned by her ex-fiancé.

“This bill is about dignity,” Mace said while advocating for her Sue VOYEURS and Stop VOYEURS Acts. She said the photo was part of a broader pattern of non-consensual recordings involving other women. Several censored images of others were shown with permission.

Mace previously accused her ex-fiancé, Patrick Bryant, of hiding cameras and facilitating abuse. Bryant strongly denied the allegations, calling them “false, malicious, and politically motivated.” One man named in Mace’s February House floor speech has sued her for defamation.

Despite criticism, Mace defended using her public office to address the issue, saying it exposed gaps in federal law. She received bipartisan support during the hearing, with lawmakers acknowledging her vulnerability and call for reform.

A South Carolina investigation into the claims is ongoing.
