Immigration Hub announced the creation of Catalyze/Citizens, a new political arm designed to combat Donald Trump’s immigration agenda and bolster Democratic messaging. Catalyze/Citizens plans to run advertising campaigns, counter disinformation about immigrants, and advocate for reforms to liability protections for online platforms. The initiative seeks to challenge GOP dominance on immigration, which included Republicans outspending Democrats 5-to-1 on ads during the 2024 elections.

Republicans effectively framed immigration as a national threat, spending $680.5 million on ads, many targeting Vice President Kamala Harris and criticizing President Joe Biden’s border policies. Trump has pledged mass deportations and the reversal of Biden administration policies, prompting immigrant rights groups to prepare for a second Trump term by drafting legal briefs and organizing aid.

The effort represents a shift for Democrats as they work to craft a strategy addressing voter concerns about border security while countering Trump’s proposals. Immigration Hub co-directors Beatriz Lopez and Kerri Talbot emphasized the importance of combating anti-immigrant narratives and rejecting extreme policies to win over moderates and swing voters.
