Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents conducted a large-scale enforcement action early Sunday morning in Nashville, resulting in multiple immigrant detentions. Witnesses say drivers, including mothers heading to work, were stopped and detained—some allegedly leaving children in cars.
State Rep. Aftyn Behn and immigrant advocates described the operation as a “dragnet” involving ICE and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Photos from the Tennessee Lookout captured buses departing a DHS facility as families gathered in protest.
“This type of federal enforcement action is not focused on making us safer,” said Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, vowing to seek the names of those detained.
ICE and the Tennessee Highway Patrol have not commented, but the action follows Tennessee’s recent immigration crackdown aligned with President Trump’s enforcement agenda. New laws include criminal penalties for sanctuary policies and legal liability for churches aiding undocumented immigrants.
