The House of Representatives passed a stopgap funding bill on Wednesday, avoiding a government shutdown by extending funding through Dec. 20, with a vote of 341-82. Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., relied on significant Democratic support, as more Democrats than Republicans backed the measure.

The bill includes significant funding for national security, which helped gain broader GOP support, and is expected to pass in the Senate before being signed by President Biden.
