Former Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-La.) announced Vice President Kamala Harris will be stepping up her involvement in the campaign ahead of November’s election. Richmond, co-chair of the Biden-Harris campaign, stated on MSNBC’s “The Sunday Show with Jonathan Capehart” that Harris will take on a more prominent role amid concerns about President Biden’s ability to secure a second term following a poor debate performance.
“She is increasing her role and she’s been a valued partner since day one,” Richmond said, emphasizing her intelligence and support for Biden both publicly and privately.
Richmond also mentioned that California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) have expressed their support for Biden. Both governors, often mentioned as potential replacements for Biden, reaffirmed their commitment to his reelection.
“Leaders are rallying around this president and vice president because they understand what’s at stake and what they have accomplished,” Richmond added.
