WASHINGTON — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is criticizing her own party for failing to reform the Affordable Care Act (ACA), saying Republican leadership has offered “no plan” as health care costs rise and federal subsidies expire.

Speaking Friday on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Greene said House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has not presented a single policy idea to address issues within the Obama-era law. “The Democrats passed Obamacare, but Republicans have never done anything to correct the problems that exist with it,” she said.

Greene argued that the ACA has “crushed” the middle class and small businesses, citing her own family’s insurance costs increasing from $800 to $2,400 per month. She called on Congress to act before premiums rise further during the new enrollment period, which began Saturday without extended tax credits.

President Donald Trump also urged cooperation between parties this week, saying Republicans and Democrats should “make something that will work” and reform the system.

Johnson maintains Republicans are developing an ACA alternative, but Greene says she has yet to see any proposal.
