ROME, Georgia — A public feud between former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and President Donald Trump intensified this week after Trump referred to her as a “traitor,” prompting Greene to respond that she is “not in his cult.”
Greene, who resigned from her House seat representing Georgia’s 14th Congressional District earlier this year, accused Trump of attempting to conceal information tied to Jeffrey Epstein. In a post on X, she wrote that being called a traitor “has become a badge of honor” because she refused “to bow to his demands to cover up the Epstein files to protect his friends.”
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said, “Well, we have a lot of people that want to take Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene’s place.” He has endorsed Clay Fuller, a district attorney, in the March 10 special election to replace her.
Greene, once a vocal Trump ally, has recently criticized him over foreign military operations and Republican handling of Affordable Care Act subsidies. She also suggested in a radio interview that the MAGA movement primarily serves wealthy donors.
Eighteen candidates are running in the special election. If no candidate secures more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff will be held April 7.
