The House passed a $60.8 billion Ukraine aid bill, despite opposition from Republicans including Georgia’s Marjorie Taylor Greene. The bill, championed by Speaker Mike Johnson, passed 311-112 with Democratic support.
Greene, a critic of the aid, previously moved to oust Johnson over foreign funding and border security issues. Post-vote, she shared a video of colleagues waving Ukrainian flags, criticizing them for prioritizing Ukraine over the U.S.
Jake Sherman reported Greene booing Democrats waving flags, while Representatives Lauren Boebert and Anna Paulina Luna voiced their disapproval. Greene later told reporters, “This is the sellout of America today.”
Asked about ousting Johnson, Greene said she’d let colleagues hear from constituents first. Representatives Thomas Massie and Paul Gosar support her effort. Johnson dismissed the ousting attempt as “absurd.”
The House also passed aid bills for the Indo-Pacific region and Israel, totaling $34.5 billion. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer urged the Senate to act swiftly on the bills.
