WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is publicly challenging President Donald Trump’s foreign policy priorities, urging a renewed focus on the domestic economy and an end to ongoing conflicts abroad. In an NBC News interview, Greene said Trump’s frequent foreign trips show he has “drifted” from his original “America First” message.

“We didn’t elect the president to go out there and travel the world and end the foreign wars,” Greene said, arguing that Americans want attention on housing and affordability. Her comments come as a new NBC News poll shows 82% of Republican voters, including 66% of non-MAGA Republicans, still support Trump’s foreign policy.

Trump has made 14 foreign trips this term, meeting leaders including Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Argentina’s Javier Milei, and plans to visit China next year. Responding to Greene’s criticism, Trump said he must “view the presidency as a worldwide situation,” adding that global leadership prevents greater conflicts.

The dispute highlights a broader rift within the Republican Party over balancing international engagement with domestic priorities, especially as rising costs and a tight housing market dominate voters’ concerns heading into 2026.
