It has been announced that driver’s licenses given to undocumented immigrants from Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Rhode Island, and Vermont are no longer valid in Florida due to the state’s new immigration laws.
The recently passed Senate Bill 1718 prohibits the issuance of driver’s licenses to those who cannot prove their lawful presence in the United States, and also stipulates that licenses issued exclusively to illegal immigrants from out-of-state will not be recognized in Florida.
In a statement, Governor Ron DeSantis said that individuals who are in the country illegally should not be granted government-issued IDs that allow them access to state-funded services and benefits.
