U.S. approval of Israel‘s military campaign in Gaza has dropped to 32%, the lowest recorded by Gallup since the October 2023 Hamas attack. Disapproval now stands at 60%, highlighting a deep partisan divide. Just 8% of Democrats and 25% of independents back Israel’s actions, compared to 71% of Republicans.
The survey, conducted from July 7–21, comes as international concern intensifies over Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, with famine warnings issued by food experts.
“Disapproval has outpaced approval in each survey since 2023,” Gallup noted, citing a peak disapproval rate of 55% in March 2024.
The polling reflects mounting Democratic resistance to continued military support. Sen. Bernie Sanders introduced a resolution Friday to block certain U.S. weapons shipments to Israel, and Sen. Angus King said he would vote against further support amid the worsening hunger crisis.
While the Biden administration has slowed some arms deliveries, the Trump administration claims to have expedited $4 billion in assistance. Congress approved over $14 billion for Israel in April.
Prime Minister Netanyahu dismissed concerns about Democratic criticism, blaming social media “vilification” and vowing to counter misinformation with “truth.”
