Kellye SoRelle, ex-counsel for the Oath Keepers, was sentenced to one year in prison for her involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack. U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta acknowledged her remorse but condemned her role in supporting the group’s violent plans to halt the election certification and subsequent efforts to cover up evidence. SoRelle pleaded guilty in August to charges of unlawfully entering restricted grounds and attempting to persuade others to destroy evidence. As general counsel for the Oath Keepers, she reportedly assisted leader Stewart Rhodes by allowing him to use her phone to direct members to delete incriminating materials.

SoRelle, who expressed regret for her actions, was deemed mentally competent for trial earlier in 2023 after an initial evaluation of incompetence. Rhodes, sentenced to 18 years, has hinted at seeking a pardon from President-elect Trump, who has not commented on the matter.
