Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) rejected a New York Magazine report that cited current and former staffers expressing concern about his mental health and behavior, calling it a “hit piece” driven by anonymous sources. “It’s a one-source story with a couple of anonymous sources, a hit piece from a very left publication,” Fetterman told NBC News.

The article by journalist Ben Terris portrayed Fetterman as erratic and difficult to work for, claiming some staffers now question his fitness to serve. One incident cited included Fetterman reportedly walking into the street and nearly being hit by a car in early 2023.

Fetterman, who has previously been open about his battle with depression and received inpatient treatment at Walter Reed, told CNN the report contains “no new news.” He emphasized that his doctors are satisfied with his recovery and questioned why his personal medical history is under scrutiny.

Fetterman added, “We all can be depressed — and we all can get made healthier,” underscoring his continued advocacy for mental health awareness.
