Elon Musk, architect of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), said he was “disappointed” by the passage of the GOP-backed “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which increases the federal deficit.
“I was, like, disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit… and it undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing,” Musk told “CBS Sunday Morning” in a preview clip.
The bill, which cleared the House last week and now heads to the Senate, extends 2017 Trump-era tax cuts, raises defense and border funding, imposes stricter Medicaid work requirements, and repeals green energy tax incentives. It also raises the debt ceiling by $4 trillion.
“I think a bill can be big or it could be beautiful,” Musk said. “I don’t know if it could be both. My personal opinion.”
Musk, who had led spending cuts and workforce reductions through DOGE, has recently stepped back from his White House role.
