Elon Musk publicly criticized The New York Times on Friday, dismissing its report detailing alleged drug use during his time on the campaign trail. Standing beside Donald Trump in the Oval Office, Musk interrupted Fox News reporter Peter Doocy’s question to accuse the outlet of past false reporting.
“Is that the same publication that got a Pulitzer Prize for false reporting on the Russiagate?” Musk asked, referencing Trump’s lawsuit against the Pulitzer Board. Trump responded, “It is,” and added that the Times may have to return its prize.
The Times report alleges Musk frequently used ketamine, psychedelic mushrooms, and ecstasy, citing sources and photos that showed he traveled with a box of 20 pills, some labeled as Adderall. The article raised concerns about Musk’s influence while leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which he stepped down from on Friday.
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller dismissed the report earlier in the day, saying the administration is focused on drug trafficking at the southern border.
