Elon Musk has called for the impeachment of U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer after the judge ruled that only Treasury Department civil servants could access its payment systems. The decision blocks Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from accessing financial data.
Musk reacted on X, calling Engelmayer a “corrupt judge” and demanding his removal. The ruling followed a lawsuit from 19 Democratic attorneys general concerned that Musk’s access could compromise sensitive data or be used to disrupt congressional funding.
Engelmayer, an Obama appointee, ordered those blocked from access to destroy any downloaded materials. The ruling remains in effect until Friday, when another judge will review the case.
Musk, a key Trump ally, has faced multiple legal challenges over his efforts to access government systems. His impeachment demand signals growing tensions between the executive and judicial branches.
