Dr. Phil McGraw was spotted in Los Angeles over the weekend with a film crew as protests erupted in response to Donald Trump‘s immigration raids across Southern California. McGraw, who now heads Merit Street Media, secured exclusive access to Homeland Security operations and recorded an interview with Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, before the enforcement actions began.

Merit Street Media promoted the interview in a press release Monday, highlighting Homan’s claims that his strategies had historically reduced illegal border crossings. The Department of Homeland Security declined to comment on McGraw’s privileged access ahead of the raids.

Protests escalated following ICE operations in Los Angeles, prompting Trump to activate National Guard troops without state approval. California Governor Gavin Newsom denounced the move and announced a lawsuit, asserting the president’s actions violated state authority. Trump responded by expressing support for Homan arresting Newsom, after the governor publicly dared him to try.
