Democrats are expressing concern over Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s potential impact in the 2024 presidential race, fearing a repeat of the 2016 election, where Stein was blamed for drawing votes away from Hillary Clinton in key swing states. With just weeks before Election Day, Democrats are working to prevent Stein from siphoning off crucial support from Vice President Kamala Harris.
Democratic strategist Doug Gordon emphasized, “Stein was instrumental to Trump getting a first term and she could be key to giving him a second.” The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has intensified efforts against Stein, warning voters in battleground states like Arizona and Wisconsin that her candidacy could help Trump return to the White House.
Stein is expected to be on ballots in several battleground states, including Pennsylvania and Michigan, where even 1% of the vote could make a significant difference. The DNC has launched ads labeling Stein a “spoiler” in an effort to curb her influence, as polling shows her gaining small but potentially crucial support in swing states.
