WASHINGTON, D.C. — Several Democratic politicians criticizing the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies are also connected indirectly to a technology partnership involving Palantir, the contractor whose software is widely used by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in deportation operations.

The controversy centers on a partnership between marketing conglomerate Stagwell and Palantir announced in November 2025. The companies said they would collaborate on an artificial intelligence platform designed to improve advertising and audience targeting using Palantir’s Foundry data analytics software. The platform allows clients to combine their own data with Palantir’s systems to identify and target potential customers, donors, or voters.

Stagwell is led by longtime Democratic pollster and former Clinton adviser Mark Penn and operates a network of communications and consulting firms that work with major political campaigns. Among them are SKDK and Wavelength Strategy, two firms that have been heavily involved in Democratic campaigns and political messaging operations.

According to campaign finance records, SKDK received more than $113 million from Democratic candidates, party committees, and political action committees during the 2024 election cycle. Wavelength Strategy also earned tens of millions of dollars from Democratic groups and campaign organizations.

A spokesperson for Stagwell declined to confirm whether the new Palantir-powered platform has been used in political campaigns, saying individual agencies decide which tools they use. Representatives from SKDK said their firms do not currently use the technology.

The issue has drawn scrutiny because Palantir’s technology has been central to immigration enforcement programs criticized by many Democratic leaders.
