Democrats are demanding the White House disclose financial transactions made by Trump administration officials following President Trump’s 90-day pause on steep tariffs.
In a letter to White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, led by Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Rep. Mike Levin (D-Calif.), Democrats said call volume spikes before Trump’s announcement raise concerns of possible ethics and insider trading violations.
They noted that no periodic transaction reports have been posted on the Office of Government Ethics database since Trump took office, despite federal requirements.
“We urgently request a full accounting of all periodic transaction reports for White House and executive branch employees,” the lawmakers wrote.
Senior officials must file transaction reports within 30 to 45 days of certain trades. Democrats warned the administration could be withholding critical information if disclosures are not filed.
Trump has dismissed allegations that nonpublic tariff information was improperly shared with Wall Street.
Democrats asked the White House to provide a detailed plan to address the issue by May 9.
