The Senate passed a short-term funding bill with a 77-13 vote, following the House’s approval, to avert a government shutdown and extend funding through March 8. This marks the fourth stopgap measure for fiscal 2024, reflecting ongoing negotiations and challenges in reaching a full-year funding agreement.

House GOP leadership plans to introduce the first package of six bills shortly, with hopes of resolving outstanding issues. Despite tensions over partisan policy riders, including those affecting abortion and diversity policies, leaders emphasize bipartisanship as essential for progress. Negotiations continue on the remaining bills, with both optimism and acknowledgment of the difficulties ahead.
