The FBI has launched criminal investigations into former CIA Director John Brennan and former FBI Director James Comey, focusing on their roles in the Trump-Russia probe. The Department of Justice confirmed to Fox News that CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred evidence against Brennan to FBI Director Kash Patel, prompting the inquiry.
The investigations are reportedly connected and being treated as a potential “conspiracy.” Allegations include false statements to Congress and misconduct related to the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment. A recently declassified CIA review criticized Brennan for insisting on the inclusion of the Steele Dossier despite tradecraft objections and analytical flaws.
The review contradicts Brennan’s 2023 congressional testimony. It states that he prioritized narrative consistency over credibility, reportedly ignoring direct warnings from intelligence officials.
Comey, meanwhile, is under scrutiny for documents from his tenure recently discovered by Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino. Bongino called the materials “not flattering” and tied them to the broader concerns over Comey’s role in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.
