Attorney General Pam Bondi on Saturday condemned the deadly explosion at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California, calling it “unforgivable” as federal authorities investigate what police described as an “intentional act of violence.”
“I have been briefed on the explosion at a fertility clinic in Palm Springs… Violence against a fertility clinic is unforgivable,” Bondi wrote on X. “The Trump administration understands that women and mothers are the heartbeat of America.”
The blast occurred just before 11 a.m. local time Saturday and caused significant damage across several buildings. Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills confirmed one person was killed and five others were injured. The FBI and ATF are assisting local authorities in the investigation.
The suspect stated in writings or recordings that he was against bringing people into the world against their will, according to the sources familiar with the investigation.
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) also condemned the attack and said the state is working with federal agencies. “Jen and I are keeping everyone affected in our hearts,” he posted.
The American Reproductive Centers confirmed that its staff and sensitive materials, including stored embryos, were unharmed and that operations would resume Monday. The identity of the deceased individual has not been released.
