In a landmark interview with the Washington Blade, President Joe Biden reiterated his dedication to LGBTQ rights and reflected on the progress made during his administration. Speaking with the D.C.-based LGBTQ newspaper, Biden highlighted his administration’s achievements, including legal challenges to state laws targeting transgender individuals and the appointment of more LGBTQ officials than any previous administration.
Biden praised milestones like the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” and celebrated Sarah McBride’s primary victory, positioning her to become the first transgender member of Congress. However, he also warned against conservative initiatives like Project 2025, describing them as harmful to the LGBTQ community. Biden further criticized former President Donald Trump’s record on LGBTQ issues and expressed his commitment to passing the Equality Act, even after leaving office.
