In a CBS News interview, President Joe Biden voiced concerns about the possibility of a peaceful transfer of power if former President Donald Trump loses the 2024 election. When asked if he was confident that power would be peacefully transferred in January 2025, Biden responded, “If Trump loses, I’m not confident at all.”
Biden referenced Trump’s past remarks about a “bloodbath” if he loses the election, stating, “He means it… You can’t love your country only when you win.”
Trump previously mentioned a “bloodbath for the country” if he loses the election, linking the comment to economic policies. During the June 2024 presidential debate, Trump avoided directly answering whether he would accept the election results, saying he would if it was a “fair and legal and good election.”
Biden also pointed to recent efforts in Georgia, where the Republican-controlled State Election Board voted to give local officials more control over certifying election results.
