President Biden declared Friday that former President Trump offered a “dark vision for the future” during his Republican National Convention speech, affirming his commitment to the 2024 race. “Last night the American people saw the same Donald Trump they rejected four years ago. For over 90 minutes, he focused on his own grievances, with no plan to unite us and no plan to make life better for working people,” Biden stated.

Despite rising calls from within his party for him to step aside, Biden remained resolute. On Friday, Sen. Martin Heinrich (N.M.) and four House Democrats urged him to end his re-election bid. “Donald Trump’s dark vision for the future is not who we are as Americans,” Biden countered, promising to defeat Trump at the ballot box.

Biden, isolating after a positive COVID-19 test, criticized Trump’s avoidance of the controversial Project 2025 agenda in his speech, while Biden campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon noted Trump “failed to mention Project 2025 even once.” Biden emphasized his own vision of protecting democracy, rights, and opportunities for all Americans.
