President Biden announced a new $225 million aid package for Ukraine on Thursday, including a second Patriot air defense system, during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the NATO Summit in Washington, D.C. Zelensky praised the announcement but urged for further U.S. permission to use long-range missiles against Russian targets. The package, provided under presidential drawdown authority, will quickly pull from U.S. military inventory and includes additional munitions and defense systems. This follows a recent $150 million aid pledge and $2.2 billion in Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative funds. Biden is set to address a press conference at the summit’s conclusion.
