President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton are teaming up for a joint fundraiser expected to raise $8 million on Tuesday, part of a larger $40 million haul for Biden’s reelection campaign over the past five days.

A Biden campaign official confirmed that the bulk of this sum, over $30 million, was raised at a star-studded event in Los Angeles on Saturday, which featured former President Barack Obama. First lady Jill Biden’s personal fundraising efforts have contributed an additional $1.5 million.

The Tuesday fundraiser, hosted by former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a close Clinton adviser, in McLean, Virginia, will also feature Jill Biden and former first lady Hillary Clinton. This follows a March fundraiser in New York with Biden, Clinton, and Obama.

The Los Angeles event, the largest single fundraiser in Democratic Party history, included actors George Clooney and Julia Roberts alongside Biden and Obama.

Biden’s intensified fundraising efforts come as his potential Republican challenger, Donald Trump, gains momentum. Trump raised $50.5 million in April at an event hosted by billionaire John Paulson in Florida. The Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee reported raising $141 million in May, boosted by contributions following Trump’s guilty verdict in his criminal hush money trial. The Biden campaign has not yet released its May fundraising figures.
