The Biden administration unveiled the “U.S. National Strategy to Counter Islamophobia and Anti-Arab Hate,” a groundbreaking policy aimed at addressing hate crimes and discrimination against Muslim and Arab Americans. The initiative, described as the first of its kind, sets a framework for federal policies to reduce bias and threats against these communities.

“Over the past year, this initiative has become even more important as threats against American Muslim and Arab communities have spiked,” the White House stated, referencing recent incidents, including the October 2023 murder of six-year-old Wadee Alfayoumi, as a catalyst for action.

The program outlines “100 Executive Branch Actions” and “100 Calls to Action” across sectors to enhance safety, awareness, and inclusivity for Muslim and Arab Americans. Its priorities include increasing recognition of their heritage, improving safety measures, addressing religious discrimination, and fostering cross-community solidarity.

The White House urged other governmental and nongovernmental entities to adopt similar strategies, emphasizing shared values of justice, liberty, and unity for all Americans.
