Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) sharply criticized both major political parties during a Wednesday appearance on Fox News’s “Special Report”, accusing them of being “largely corrupt” and beholden to billionaire donors rather than everyday Americans.

“The political system in this country is largely corrupt — both parties,” said Sanders, who caucuses with Democrats. He argued that billionaires dictate which legislation advances and who gets nominated, citing Elon Musk’s potential sway in Republican primaries and AIPAC’s influence in Democratic positions on Israel’s war in Gaza.

Sanders said candidates who challenge either party’s dominant interests risk being targeted by super PACs and wealthy donors. “We have a corrupt campaign finance system,” he said. “Billionaires in both political parties are calling the tunes.”

The remarks follow Sanders’ ongoing “Fighting Oligarchy” tour with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), where they’ve criticized President Trump’s cuts to social programs and denounced the political influence of the ultra-wealthy across both parties.
