Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump, has declined the opportunity to serve as Florida’s GOP at-large delegate to the Republican National Convention. The Office of Melania Trump confirmed to ABC News that Barron is honored by the selection but cannot participate due to prior commitments.
The Florida Republican Party had announced that Barron was chosen as a delegate, along with other Trump family members who have been more active in the former president’s campaign. However, Barron, who is graduating from high school soon, has maintained his distance from the political spotlight.
Donald Trump has been vocal about Barron’s interest in politics. In a local Philadelphia radio interview, he shared that Barron enjoys politics and sometimes offers him advice. “He’ll tell me sometimes, ‘Dad, this is what you have to do,’” said the former president, adding that Barron is smart and doesn’t need much political guidance.
In a conversation with Telemundo 51 in Miami, Donald Trump expressed support for his son’s political interests, emphasizing his youth. “To me, that’s very cute because he’s a very young guy,” Trump said. “He’s a very good student, very smart and I think that’s great. I’m all for it.”
