Former senior Trump adviser Steve Bannon, who is set to report to prison on Monday for contempt of Congress charges, provided a list of individuals he believes former President Trump should pursue if elected to a second term. In an interview with ABC’s “This Week,” Bannon downplayed concerns about retribution, stating the focus should be on justice.

“If you haven’t done anything, you shouldn’t worry,” Bannon said. “We want to have full investigations, and then if criminal charges come up, then criminal charges come up.”

Among those Bannon mentioned were former FBI Directors Andrew McCabe and James Comey, former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, former Attorney General Bill Barr, and former Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley. Bannon emphasized that these investigations would be about justice, not retribution, despite Trump’s previous promises to seek retribution for his supporters.

Bannon, who will serve four months in prison for evading a subpoena from the House Jan. 6 committee, asserted that his imprisonment will not silence him. “I’m a political prisoner,” he declared, insisting that his voice will not be suppressed while incarcerated.

Bannon also expressed no regrets about refusing the committee’s subpoena, suggesting his imprisonment was necessary to challenge the legitimacy of the committee. “If it took me going to prison to finally get the House to start to move, to start to delegitimize the illegitimate J6 committee, then, hey, guess what, my going to prison is worth it,” he said.

House leaders, led by Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), announced they would support Bannon’s appeal of his conviction in the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Bannon was found guilty in 2022 on two counts of contempt of Congress after refusing to cooperate with the panel investigating the January 6th Capitol riot.
