Steve Bannon, former White House chief strategist, criticized an upcoming event on election integrity between former President Donald Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson, calling it “meaningless.” Bannon’s comments came amidst a backdrop of GOP infighting, with Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene recently filing a motion to vacate Johnson from his seat as House speaker.
Bannon expressed support for Greene’s motion, stating, “Johnson has got to go.” The criticism also coincides with the House’s renewal of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which allows the government to collect electronic communications of non-American citizens located outside of the U.S. without a warrant. Trump posted “KILL FISA” on his social media platform, Truth Social, in response to the renewal.
