A Republican group critical of former President Trump has taken aim at prominent GOP figures, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and former Attorney General Bill Barr. In a recent ad, Republican Voters Against Trump accuses these politicians of suffering from “partisan derangement syndrome.”

The ad features dramatic music and footage of Barr, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu, and McConnell. A narrator asserts that these Republicans acknowledge Trump’s responsibility for the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack. However, despite their concerns, they indicate they will vote for Trump again in the upcoming election.

Barr, who previously clashed with Trump over the Capitol insurrection and false election claims, recently confirmed he would vote for the Republican ticket. He justified this decision by stating that, given two bad choices, he believes it is his duty to choose the person who would do the least harm to the country.

McConnell also endorsed Trump, despite ongoing tensions. He deemed it clear that Trump would be the GOP’s presidential nominee. Sununu, too, pledged support for Trump as the nominee, even while maintaining past criticisms.

Republican Voters Against Trump released another ad suggesting that Trump’s four criminal indictments render him unfit for even a local mall job, let alone the presidency.

As Trump and Biden secure their party nominations, the competitive race sets the stage for a rematch of the 2020 election, with polling averages showing Trump narrowly ahead of Biden .
