Allegations of frequent drug use by Elon Musk during the 2024 campaign season have raised red flags among former colleagues and federal officials, according to a New York Times report published Friday.
Musk, a top donor and close adviser to President Trump, allegedly used ketamine often enough to impact his bladder, while also taking psychedelic mushrooms and ecstasy, sources told the Times. He was frequently seen with a box of about 20 pills — some reportedly labeled as Adderall — while serving in the White House as a special government employee advising the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The report comes just days after Musk announced his departure from the administration, coinciding with the end of his 130-day term.
Although Musk has stated publicly that he holds a ketamine prescription, concerns are heightened by his leadership of SpaceX, a federal contractor required to maintain a drug-free workplace. The Times report also claims Musk received advance notice of SpaceX drug testing, raising compliance questions.
Musk and his legal team did not comment on the story.
