Five transgender service members have asked a federal judge to temporarily block the Trump administration from enforcing its policy banning openly trans individuals from serving in the military. The motion, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, argues the plaintiffs face “immediate and irreparable harm” under the order.
The plaintiffs include Jamie Hash, Vera Wolf, and Ashley Davis, all of whom were placed on administrative leave. Cadet Hunter Marquez has been ordered to follow standards based on his birth sex, excluding him from key training, while Samuel Ahearn has been barred from graduating Officer Candidate School despite meeting requirements.
The motion follows a separate ruling last week from Judge Ana Reyes, who indefinitely blocked the order, calling it “soaked in animus.” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who later mocked Reyes online, said the Pentagon will appeal.
Plaintiffs argue a restraining order would maintain the status quo, while continued enforcement harms careers and stigmatizes trans troops. A similar injunction was granted in a New Jersey case on Sunday.
