Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has offered his endorsement and vowed to put the measure on the floor. But first, negotiators will have to finish the hard work of translating their accord into legislation.
The deal includes grants for states to implement red flag laws, new spending for mental health treatment and school security and extra scrutiny for gun buyers under the age of 21.
