Sen. Elizabeth Warren and other Congressional Democrats are urging federal agencies to investigate H&R Block, TaxAct, and TaxSlayer for sharing sensitive taxpayer data with Facebook’s parent company, Meta.
The lawmakers’ report exposed that the tax companies shared personal and financial information with Meta, including income sources, deductions, and exemptions, allowing Meta to craft targeted algorithms and improve its marketing campaigns.
