The Workers Party of Massachusetts is urging socialist groups and individuals to unite in running independent candidates for the state Legislature in 2026, offering ballot access help, campaign finance guidance, and voter outreach support.
Founded in 2020, the Workers Party is an independent socialist organization, registered as a political action committee and recognized in Massachusetts as a political designation. The party has previously fielded candidates for state auditor and legislative seats.
In a statement Monday, the party said President Donald Trump’s second term has intensified “the war against the working class,” citing immigration crackdowns, diversity rollbacks, and social program cuts. It accused both Democrats and Republicans of serving the same capitalist interests, including Wall Street and the defense industry.
While acknowledging socialism cannot be achieved through elections alone, the party said campaigns can serve as platforms to reach new communities. It is also considering a broader socialist electoral alliance, with a fall 2026 conference planned to discuss strategy.
