A 13-year-old boy in Pierce County, Washington, has been arrested after authorities said they found 23 firearms and ammunition in his home, along with social media posts suggesting admiration for school shooters. He pleaded not guilty Monday to five charges, including four felonies, in juvenile court and was ordered to remain in detention.

Deputies said the boy’s posts, dating back to June, displayed weapons and referenced past mass shootings. One message read, “when i turn 21 iam going to kill people.” During a SWAT raid Saturday, officers discovered tactical rifles mounted on walls, unsecured handguns, and AR-style magazines in his bedroom. Some were marked with references to the 1999 Columbine shooting.

Investigators also found a crude drawing of a known mass shooter. “It appeared the suspect had everything ready to go to commit a mass shooting type of incident,” said Deputy Carly Cappetto. Authorities have not identified a potential target.

The boy’s mother told local media her son never intended harm and suggested the posts were an attempt to “be cool.” Prosecutors are considering charges against the parents for unsafe gun storage. A pretrial hearing is set for September 17, with a detention review scheduled for September 22.
