SPRINGFIELD, Illinois — Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton launched her first U.S. Senate campaign ad this week, featuring supporters repeatedly saying “f___ Trump” as she competes for the Democratic nomination to replace retiring Sen. Dick Durbin.

In the 30-second television spot, individuals identified by the campaign as “real Illinoisans,” including Sen. Tammy Duckworth, are shown using the expletive. Stratton responds in the ad, saying, “They said it, not me. I’m not scared of a wannabe dictator. I’m running for Senate to stand up to Donald Trump.”

Stratton also vows in the ad to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement and to hold Trump accountable for alleged crimes. Gov. JB Pritzker, who has endorsed Stratton, appears briefly in the ad but does not repeat the expletive.

Stratton faces Democratic primary challengers Reps. Raja Krishnamoorthi and Robin Kelly in what is considered a safe Democratic seat. The primary election is scheduled for March 17, and the ad is set to run statewide through Election Day.
