TRENTON, NJ — Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) holds an eight-point lead over Republican Jack Ciattarelli in New Jersey’s gubernatorial race, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll. The survey found Sherrill ahead 51 percent to 43 percent among likely voters, with 3 percent undecided.

The results mark a slight shift from Quinnipiac’s earlier October poll, which showed Sherrill leading 50 percent to 44 percent. Minor-party candidates Joanne Kuniansky of the Socialist Workers Party and Vic Kaplan of the Libertarian Party each earned 1 percent support.

Sherrill maintains a stronger favorability rating than her GOP opponent — 47 percent to 43 percent — while Ciattarelli’s unfavorable rating, at 47 percent, exceeds Sherrill’s 38 percent. Gov. Phil Murphy (D), who is term-limited, currently holds a 45 percent approval rating, compared with former President Donald Trump’s 40 percent. Both remain underwater overall with voters statewide.

Taxes ranked as the top issue for voters (25 percent), followed by ethics in government (16 percent) and health care (14 percent).

The race to replace Murphy has intensified in recent weeks, with both campaigns bringing in national surrogates to energize supporters. While Sherrill’s advantage in this poll is her largest yet, other surveys — including an Emerson College/The Hill poll — show a narrower race within the margin of error.

The Quinnipiac survey, conducted Oct. 23–28, polled 1,166 likely voters and carries a margin of error of ±3.8 percentage points.
