Portland, Oregon — A Portland police officer has been reassigned after a video circulated on TikTok showing him defending the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by a federal immigration officer in Minneapolis, drawing national attention and criticism.

The video, posted over the weekend, shows the unidentified officer telling a protester, “Sometimes criminals get shot,” when discussing Good’s death. Portland Police Bureau Chief Robert Day said the officer has been assigned to other duties while an internal review of the complaint is underway. Day confirmed the reassignment in a statement to USA Today but did not immediately respond to additional inquiries.

Good, a mother of three, was killed last week after Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer Jonathan Ross fired three shots as she attempted to drive away during an encounter. Authorities said Good was instructed to exit her vehicle but instead turned her wheels and fled. Bystander video of the incident has fueled a broader national debate over immigration enforcement tactics and use of force.

In the TikTok clip, the Portland officer also told the protester he would have shot Good himself if she had attempted to run him over with her car. The remarks came as senior federal officials weighed in on the Minneapolis case. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem labeled Good a “domestic terrorist,” while Vice President JD Vance said Ross would receive “absolute immunity.”

Tensions escalated further when, a day after the Minneapolis shooting, a Border Patrol agent shot and wounded two people in Portland, adding to scrutiny of federal and local law enforcement responses amid ongoing protests.
