RALEIGH, North Carolina — Brittany Boltinhouse has been stripped of her Miss North Carolina USA 2026 title after alleged racist social media posts resurfaced weeks before the national competition.
A Blaize Productions, which operates the state pageant, announced Wednesday that it ended Boltinhouse’s reign after reviewing newly surfaced information and consulting with the Miss USA Organization. Officials did not publicly identify the posts that prompted the decision.
However, NCBeat reported that posts attributed to Boltinhouse repeatedly used a racial slur between 2017 and 2019 under the username “Sosa the Stallion.” Boltinhouse, 27, was crowned June 28 and had been scheduled to represent North Carolina at the Miss USA pageant in Miami on Aug. 27.
Miss USA Chairman and CEO Thom Brodeur said the organization does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia or language that denies another person’s dignity. He said the material reflected conduct occurring over an extended period rather than one isolated incident.
Brodeur said Boltinhouse had accepted accountability and planned to release a statement. He added that an apology could begin personal growth but would not reverse the harm or change the organization’s decision.
First runner-up Myla Hadley has assumed the title and will represent North Carolina at Miss USA. Hadley said she understood the responsibility involved and was prepared for the unexpectedly shortened transition.
